Wine & Cheese Victorian Hat-Making Party

Time:  5:00 – 7:00pm

This event is in conjunction with the closing of the exhibition, “The Reason Why the Colored American Is Not in the World’s Columbian Exposition!”

Event Description:  You simply must come!  Join us for a Victorian Hat-Making Party, an evening of retro fun and creativity as we design 19th century Victorian-style hats, talk about Victorian fashion and  laugh the time away. Wine and cheese will be complimentary, however, a $10 materials fee is required.  Ladies and gentlemen, you are encouraged to wear your newly created vintage creations to the closing reception on Thursday, December 5th!

What: Victorian Holiday Costume Party 

When:  Thursday, December 5, 2013

Where: UIC African-American Cultural Center, 830 S. Halsted Street, Addams Hall, 2nd floor, Chicago, IL  60607

Time: 5:30-7:30pm

Admission: FREE

Attire:  Victorian Era (19th century) Costume (preferred but not mandatory)

Entertainment: Reginald R. Robinson, composer, jazz pianist, educator, performing artist, and studio recording artist who is widely known for his ragtime compositions.Robinson is a MacArthur Genius Grant recipient!

Food, Music, Exhibition Tours, and Holiday Caroling are all part of this Victorian-style event that you won’t soon forget!

Inspired by Tim O’Brien’s book, “The Things They Carried,” the veterans’ art exhibit will showcase photos, artwork and objects from past and present wars, giving attendees a glimpse of life during deployment.
